How eyreACT Was Born
In late 2024, Julie’s boss, a Chief Data Officer at a mid-sized fintech in London, was sitting in her third emergency legal meeting that month. Her team had built an AI-powered credit scoring system that was driving 40% of their loan approvals.
“Are we compliant with European AI Act?” asked the CDO.
Julie stared at the 400-page regulation. Their lawyer estimated 6 months and €500K just to figure out what applied to them. Their AI vendor pointed fingers at their cloud provider. Their cloud provider pointed back at the vendor. Meanwhile, the August 2025 deadline loomed, and potential fines could reach €200 million.
“There has to be a better way,” Julie told her long-time colleague that night, a former regulatory consultant who’d helped banks navigate GDPR. He was not surprised. He was hearing the same story from every AI-using company he knew.
They realised something: The EU had just created a €50 billion compliance problem, but no one was building the solution.
